Advertising is broken. Somehow, we’ve ended up with 2 major players who trample your privacy, suck up your data, and take home 60% of the digital advertising market. Something’s got to change, and the timing is now. Google and Facebook are facing antitrust probes and GDPR has finally given us access to our data. Advertise To Me is an open-source initiative to build a distributed advertising service that belongs to you. We want to give you ownership of your data and a marketplace where you can easily earn from the advertising you see.

Can you even think of all the companies that have collected data from you? GDPR has given us the right to request our data from companies, but the truth is, it’s a really annoying process. The first step to building a distributed advertising service is reducing the friction for anyone to request or delete their data from the most popular companies. Once users have gotten back control of their data, we’ll have a few more hills to climb.

1. We’ll need a way for users to easily request their data from multiple companies and securely store it on their local device. (Pods?)

2. We’ll need a way for users to transform their data and choose which 3rd parties they expose it to.

3. We’ll need a way for advertisers to see which audiences are available and easily purchase advertising space.

4. We’ll need a way for users to earn a share of the marketing dollars spent on them and make transfers to their bank account.

Hi, I’m Meraj :) I’m an entrepreneur and jr. developer with a vision, but limited technical expertise. I spent 6+ years in the advertising business working for the Wall Street Journal, so I can lend experience on building out an advertising marketplace. I’ve talked to a bunch of developers and they’re willing to help out, but I’m really gonna need your help to make this happen!
